Welcome new and returning watercolorists! Join Sophie for a lesson designed to spark a lifelong love of watercolor. You don't even need to know how to draw a stick figure - I can teach students at any experience level! We will discuss materials in depth and work on some integral painting skills focused on building confidence.
Date: Sunday September 21st
Time: 11am - 2pm *we will start on time, please be prompt.* Three hours pass quickly, please only register for this class if you know you'll be able to attend the session on time.
Location: DrawTogether Studio: Located in the East Bay on the border of Emeryville and Oakland, DrawTogether Studio is a bright, spacious, thoughtfully designed art and design studio perfect for teaching, sharing, gathering, and creating. (Exact address to be provided upon registration) ADA accessible - please let me know if you need accommodations in advance so I can ensure your comfort.
Details: The format of this class will start with a detailed discussion of materials followed by a painting demonstration by Sophie that will walk you through a fun little plant painting. Bring your own supplies or purchase a kit from Sophie's shop. There will also be limited supplies available for use during your class.
Materials: Either bring your own or purchase a kit from Sophie's shop. I have everything you need stocked at Sophie Tivona Paper in the Temescal Alley on 49th St. You can purchase all materials for around $70. Here are the basics required for the class:
- paints: the more colors the better in my opinion! Bring what you have but make sure you have the following colors: green, yellow, red, brown, and black.
- paper: must be watercolor paper, preferably a block. Cold press or hot press will work. Size is up to you, I like 6"x8" or 9"x12"
- water cup
- brushes: size 4 or 6 round recommended. It's nice to have a couple of options and make sure one brush has a fine point.
- pencil with eraser
- paper towels: bring one or two per class.
Please read on for class policies and refund/cancellation info:
**Minimum age for workshops is 16 years old.** I am committed to providing a space for adult education, free of censorship and focused on community connection between adults. I can recommend other options for younger students if you are interested. :)
Cancellations/Refunds:
Please purchase carefully - if you need to cancel 7+ days prior, you will be charged $50 per person (the remainder will be refunded to your original payment method). No credits or refunds will be issued if you cancel less than 7 days in advance. In the event that you cannot attend the class, you may transfer your spot to another person.
The session can be recorded via an overhead camera and available for viewing after class. If you are unable to attend in person, the recording will be sufficient to guide you through your paintings at home. :)
Please understand that I am just one person running a small business and when you purchase a spot in one of my workshops I plan accordingly. Unfortunately I can no longer offer full refunds on classes. Thank you for supporting my very tiny business.
